Please ensure that all communication about your child’s medical and allergy needs are directed to the school office in the first instance. You can do this in person at either school office, by phoning the school office, and by emailing ksamedical@kingsolomonacademy.org or parents@kingsolomonacademy.org
Short term medication
If your child needs to take medication at school on a short-term basis, please bring the medication to the school office where you will be asked to complete a form and confirm the details. The medication will be kept in the school office, and arrangements will be put in place as appropriate for your child to take their medication during the school day. Pupils may not carry medications on their person.
Long-term medication and healthcare plans
Before the start of each academic year, we email all parents and ask you to confirm your child’s medical and allergy information. It is crucial that we have accurate and up-to-date medical and allergy information for your child.
Inhalers are to be clearly labelled with your child’s name and should be handed to the school office in their original box with the prescription label. They are kept in the school office. Please ensure you provide us with inhalers which are in date and that you provide new ones when needed.
If your child has a medical condition which requires ongoing support or medication at school, we will work with you to create a healthcare plan. We keep track of your child’s medication at school and ask that you always provide us with in-date medication as needed by your child.
Ad hoc medication e.g. painkillers
We do not stock painkillers onsite. If your child is in need of a painkiller during the day, and a stock of them is not already being stored in the school office for them, then we will always contact the parent to provide some and to complete a permission form to administer the medicine. We will do this each time it is required. No pupil will be provided with painkillers unless the parent has provided them and written permission has been expressly given by the parent.
All medicines or painkillers should be handed into school office as no pupil should carry it on their person.
