Breakfast Club
We know at King Solomon Academy that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. This is especially true for children and young adults. That’s why we offer breakfast to any pupil who needs it and are proud to be a partner with Magic Breakfast.
We offer Breakfast Club every day on both Younger Years Site and Older Years Site.
Breakfast Club is open to all pupils. We offer a range of cereals, juice and toasted bagels.
Thanks to the generosity of Magic Breakfast, we also offer all Primary pupils the chance to eat a toasted bagel snack every morning during Soft Start. In Secondary, pupils are always welcome to use our ‘grab and go’ service.
Breakfast club runs from 7:45am at both sites for pupils from Nursery to Year 11. It is run by KSA staff. Places are available for £30 per half term (about £1 per session), payable in advance and are free for pupils on free school meals.
Pupils should arrive to breakfast club at 7.45am. If they arrive late, it becomes difficult to calmly and smoothly provide a decent breakfast. As such, pupils arriving late repeatedly risk losing their breakfast club space. If pupils arrive after 8am it may not be possible for them to be provided with breakfast.
Alongside a nutritous breakfast, pupils will also be able to do a range of activities, including arts and crafts.
If you would like to sign up your child for Breakfast Club, please email parents@kingsolomonacademy.org
After School Care
We now run our own After School Care provision. It is based at YYS and staffed by KSA staff. Places are available for children from Nursery to Year 6. Year 5s and Year 6s are walked over to YYS by a member of OYS staff.
Please see below the options available to parents and the prices. As we have recently taken this provision back in-house, these prices are under review.

If we hold medication for your Y5/Y6 child at OYS, please notify us of this and bring additional medication to YYS for us to store.
Places are currently booked two weeks in advance via parents@kingsolomonacademy.org and payment must be made two weeks in advance via Parent Pay. If you place regular bookings, we will set you up on the online booking system. We are still happy to take ad hoc bookings for children as long as bookings are made and paid for by 11am on the day. Please note the higher price for bookings made on the day. To make ad hoc bookings or to ask any questions about after school care, please email parents@kingsolomonacademy.org
Clubs
We are proud to run a wide range of after-school clubs for our pupils to choose to participate in. We expect every child to join at least one club over the course of each school year although we also know many of our pupils participate in many different activities outside of school too.
We try to ensure that children who have historically not had as much access to clubs both in school and outside of school get more of an opportunity to do so at KSA. As such, the termly booking form opens to families of pupils on Free School Meals for a week before it opens to everyone else, with 50% of the places available to book.
In the first round of each term’s sign up, families will only be able to book children into one club per week so that we are able to offer the opportunity to be part of a club to as many children as possible. If after a week, there are still places remaining, parents will get the opportunity to book a second club.
Year 1 to year 9 – after school systems
All pupils in year 1 to 9 who attend any after school club will have to formally sign up on the booking form – you cannot just join in. This is so we and parents can be very clear on who should be in the building after school.
In year 7 to 9, if your child receives homework catch up or detention on a day when they have a club they will be allowed to go to this club and complete their homework catch up or detention the following day. This can only be done once a week, therefore if your child signs up for more than one club they will have to choose which club (their priority club) this ‘pass’ will apply to. Children on Prep or Internal Exclusion will not be allowed to attend clubs.
Cost: all clubs are free!
We have restructured clubs to be run within contracted staff hours and so we are able to offer all our after-school clubs for free. Please be aware that this means that clubs are not reliable After School Care and can be cancelled or changed if necessary and we will ask parents to collect primary pupils at normal time.
If you need reliable After School Care, you must pay for ASC at YYS by emailing parents@kingsolomonacademy.org.
Collection YYS
On YYS, children in clubs must be collected from the YYS Lower Playground at 3.45 on Mondays and 4.15pm Tuesdays to Fridays. If you do not collect your child on time, they may be removed from the club for the rest of the term.
Collection OYS
If your child is in year 5 or 6, please ensure you are waiting in the Main School entrance foyer on Penfold Street to collect your child at 4.45pm to 4.55pm (Tuesdays to Fridays). Unless there is an exceptional situation, if you do not collect your child on time, they may be removed from the club for the rest of the term. The cost (where applicable) will not be refunded.
Secondary pupils will be allowed to depart without an adult collecting them unless you inform the school otherwise.
Any enquiries should be directed to parents@kingsolomonacademy.org.
