Welcome to King Solomon Academy. Our school is defined by our mission to provide a rigorous and transformational education to every pupil enabling them to have the choice to go on to a top university at 18 and preparing them to lead happy and successful lives.
Our school is a community of staff, parents and pupils aligned around a shared belief that every child must receive an excellent education, that every child can and will feel safe, happy and successful in our school and in their lives beyond. We are a team and family living by our values to aim high, work together, be kind and lead the way.
We are one school with two sites. Our Younger Years Site is a beautiful space, tucked away at the bottom of Crompton Street. Our new state of the art nursery building and beautiful outdoor environment serve our 2-4 year olds. 90 children in each cohort in Reception to Year 4 play in our extensive outdoor areas including a woodland garden and Forest School provision. Pupils move to our Older Years Site on Penfold Street for Year 5-Year 13 benefitting from our large Sports Hall, MUGA, specialist science facilities and specialist music provision. Every pupil at King Solomon plays a strings instrument from Year 4 to Year 9, playing together in a year group orchestra throughout Middle School.
We hope you enjoy reading more about the academy and I look forward to meeting you.

Climbing the mountain to university
Our mission is to provide our pupils with a rigorous and transformational education which prepares them for success at university and beyond. We ensure that every pupil achieves academic success, particularly in reading, writing and maths where we ensure every child learns with confidence.
We want to make university education accessible, exciting and aspirational. Our pupils work hard towards this goal because we make it real for them. We name our classes after university cities and we name each year group by the year in which they will graduate from sixth form. We run annual residential trips from Year 5 up for every pupil, investing in learning beyond the confines of our classrooms, having fun together and experiencing future opportunities open to us all. In Year 6, we spend a week in Oxford and whilst we love our day of outward bounds activities, we also love the days at the university attending a chemistry lecture, playing university sports and going punting on the river.
At the heart of our approach is that we are an all-through school with a thriving nursery provision. We believe in investing in knowing our pupils and their families extremely well, and we prioritise our pupils making extraordinary progress in the early years of their education. This sense of continued long-term commitment to each and every year of a child’s education is core to our approach.
We have high expectations for all of our pupils and believe that with great teaching and a lot of love and care, every child here can fulfil their potential. Our warm/strict approach means pupils feel safe and secure in the school but also confident to contribute to the future of the school and their community.
Long term, we commit to playing our part in removing the educational disadvantage currently experienced by those born into deprivation in our country. We strive to create role models and leaders in our community and through them create a safer, fairer, and happier society.
How we deliver a world-class education
High expectations - We are all climbing the mountain to university and are ambitious for every pupil.
Excellent teaching - We love teaching and we love learning, and we place it at the heart of all our work.
A rigorous and transformational curriculum - Our all-through curriculum is meticulously designed and implemented to ensure that our pupils have a successful journey from nursery through to university.
Exemplary character - Our school culture leads our pupils to be striving to be the best versions of ourselves. Our Personal Development curriculum invests in each pupil as an individual ensuring they are building the knowledge and skills to keep themselves and others safe, mentally and physically healthy and well informed about the world they live in.
A long-term commitment to every pupil - As one of a handful of all-through schools with consistent cohorts of children across primary and secondary, we are able to invest in our pupils and their families over the long-term, building deep and trusting relationships leading to sustainable and meaningful change.
Investment in our team - Our staff choose to work at KSA because we know we are working together to address educational inequality, and are well supported to achieve this.
Efficient and effective organisation - We carefully organise the operational and educational activities in our school to maximise our collective impact and make our work sustainable.
Our core values are woven throughout school life
- Aim High: we prepare for success and work hard to achieve our goals. We never give up on ourselves, our teammates or our mission.
- Work Together: we achieve our best when we are a team. We build on each other's strengths and help each other to be better.
- Be Kind: we support everyone to be happy, safe and successful by showing gratitude, taking care of each other and feeling proud of our achievements.
- Lead the way: we are positive role models in all that we do. We are brave, we show intiative, and are passionate about creating a better future.
