Extended learning

Activity is a structured play time which runs for 30 minutes in the middle of the day on a carousel with lunch and DEAR. Pupils select their activity on a termly basis, with priority being given to pupils with the highest behaviour payslips. Examples of activities are as follows:

• Football
• Basketball
• Dance
• Board games
• Art
• Music
• Debating
• Crafts
• Coding

In Middle School, if a pupil is late to school in the morning, they forfeit their activity time and do a detention instead. If pupils are part of a sport activity, they must have the correct equipment in order to take part.

Middle School

Enrichment in Middle School happens once a week for just under 1.5 hours on a Friday afternoon from 14:30 to 15:50 (some clubs that involve travel may overrun). Pupils are given an element of choice when it comes to deciding who gets to do what activity though this is limited to the capacity of each activity. The chances of pupils being allocated their first choice activity are increased having a high YTD payslip average and a silver or gold wristband. Some activities may require a whole year commitment from pupils whereas other may be changeable on a termly basis.

Pupils earn enrichment on a weekly basis by achieving an end of week total of 75 KSA pounds or higher. This is tracked throughout the week and final totals are made official on Friday morning.

As enrichment is a reward, the atmosphere of these sessions should be involve learning in a fun and enjoyable manner whilst retaining a strong sense of purpose or a long-term goal and link to a subject or development of a specific skill.  Examples of enrichment activities that have run successfully in Middle School previously are below;

• Sports/fitness: Dance, football, netball, touch rugby, basketball, cricket, athletics, rounders, badminton
• Creative or academic skill development: Spanish, debating, drama, coding, CREST club, book club, creative writing, curiosity club, music, art
• Life skills: Cooking, gardening, volunteering

Upper School

Upper School enrichment takes place every Wednesday afternoon between 2pm and 3.45pm (some offsite activities may overrun) and runs in a very similar way to Middle School enrichment. 

Additional activities offered include the following:

• Free London – explore London's free exhibitions and museums with a group of friends (Year 11 only)
• Latin
• Cross country running
• Duke of Edinburgh navigation training trips

Sixth Form

Students in Sixth Form are encouraged to set up their own societies and run them on Thursdays after school.
