How to apply
Pupils can join us from the day that they turn 2 years old. The application form remains open all year and we operate a waiting list in accordance with our admissions criteria. We offer out spaces in our 2 year old provision as soon as we have availability.
We have a small number of places still available in our 3 to 4 year old preschool provision for an immediate start. Apply through our website or call the nursery office for further information on 0208 161 6725. We run tours of our nursery provision fortnightly on a Friday morning.
For nursery admissions we use the criteria outlined below and in the admission's policy to allocate places.
If you have any questions about the admissions process, please email the following address: nursery@kingsolomonacademy.org

Places and fees
Local authority-funded places
Places are only available in school term time. These places are available for families who qualify for funding. These places are available in the morning with drop off between 8am and 8.30am and pick up at 11.30am, 5 days a week during term time. Parents taking up these places can also pay for extra provision to stay for lunch until 12.30pm. All costs are outlined below in the costs section.
There is also the option of bringing your child 4 days a week only (the day not being in nursery must be Monday or Friday) and joining lunch session for at least three days (these must be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with the option of a fourth day paid if desired). Finally, there is the option of putting a child in the LA funded place three days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday for the full day, with the additional hours being paid in addition. The costs of this are outlined below.
For Local Authority Funded places can be offered as follows:
- Pupils attend Monday to Friday mornings (8.00am to 11.30am).

- Pupils can attend 3 days a week, (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday only), and stay for the whole day (8am-3.30pm), to do this requires a top up of 7.5 hours, or £67.50 a week
- If a family wants their child to join in the afternoon on specific days (booked in advance for a half term at a time) they must pay the top up charge for this provision, the costs of which are outlined below.

There is a £200 deposit payable on acceptance of the paid place, which holds the paid place for your child. This money is deducted from your 3 year old lunch costs when your child transitions to 3 year old provision, or if they were to leave the nursery with due notice, this deposit would be returned to you at that point. If a pupil was not to attend nursery the nursery after the deposit is paid the deposit would not be refunded.
3 to 4 year old preschool admissions
New starter places are available in the 3-to-4-year-old preschool provision each September in addition to those children moving up from the 2-year-old provision. The first new starter places are reserved for those families eligible for 30 hours funding, but there are also many places for pupils who are not eligible for this funding. We believe that providing a full day provision, we can support out families and allow our pupils to develop and learn quickly.
We follow the school’s admissions criteria when allocating spaces for our preschool provision.
If the nursery is oversubscribed, priority will be given to students with Educational Health Care Plans where the school is named on the plan. Otherwise, places will be allocated as follows:
-
Where spaces are for 3-year-olds, pupils who qualify for 30 hours working family funding (see below)
-
Children who are in public care
-
Children of staff of the school where there is a demonstrable skill shortage
-
Children who have a sibling who already attends the school and who will continue to do so on the date of admission (for this purpose “sibling” means a whole, half or step-brother or -sister resident at the same address). Please note, a sibling attending the nursery does not count
-
Children of staff of the school (where there is no skill shortage).
The remaining places will be allocated children who live closest to the school, using a straight-line distance from the main entrance of the academy to the main entrance to the child’s home.
We offer full time nursery provision wherever possible, as we believe this best prepares our pupils for primary school. As the government provides nursery funding dependent on parents’ employment status this will be taken into consideration as part of the admissions process in the following way. We reserve the first 35 places in the preschool provision in September for parents who qualify for the government’s 30 hours working parents full time nursery funding. These places are for families where either parents (or one parent in a one parent family) work at least 16 hours a week, and have an income below £100,000. In the event we have more qualifying children than places available, we will apply our admissions criteria above, and any remaining children will be considered for the remaining places. The remaining 53 places will be reserved for all other parents.
Although we want all children to be attending nursery full time, we understand that children are different and some may benefit from a reduced school day (15 hours only). The school reserves the right to adapt children’s hours should we feel it is in their best interests for families who are in receipt of 15-hour funding.
We have 88 places for 3-to-4-year-olds available in September 2025. We expect about 30 of these to be filled by pupils who are already in our 2-year-old provision, and the remainder to be pupils new to King Solomon Academy. Please submit this electronic form by Friday 18th April 2025. We will inform you of the outcome in writing by week beginning Monday 12th May 2025. Any applications received afterFriday 18th of April 2025 will automatically be placed on our waiting list. Please note that a nursery place at King Solomon Academy does not currently automatically guarantee a place in Reception.
