KSA Parent Council

The Parent Council are made up of KSA parents who have committed to work with the school to make KSA the best it can be. At the start of the 2019-20 year, to adapt to the fact we are a larger, merged school across two sites, we have updated the structure of the Parent Council. The new details are shared here:

  • Two working groups
    • Parent Consultation Committee, which would focus on consultation and feedback
    • Parent Fundraising and Events Committee which organises fund raising and community events. 
  • Volunteer Agreement and Parent Council Code of Conduct allowing clarity about what is expected of council members. This would also include completing DBS checks of all council members and publishing their identities online and on the school website in order to both raise their profile and to provide the opportunity for them to work more closely with school staff and, over time, lead events.
  • Increasing parent participation and representation By maximising involvement in the two committees, and encouraging involvement in school events and fundraising

How it works?

Half-termly meetings will take place for the two working groups at different times so that parents can be in both committees if they wish to.

Depending on the topic for discussion, the committees may split into Younger Years Site and Older Years Site however the fundraising committee would most likely work as one body engaging with the community and community projects across both sites.

The meeting dates will be agreed following the first round of “Getting to know you” events, where parents will be asked to sign up and state their preferences over meeting times.

Who will lead it?

Each subcommittee would be co-chaired by a parent and a member of staff (a member of the senior leadership team). They would co-create the agenda before the meeting and follow-up on actions, including feeding back to the wider parent council. The fundraising committee would also appoint a treasurer. Members of each committee would be able to put themselves forward to be nominated for these leadership roles.

Parents volunteering at events

If you would like to give your time to support in the running of events, please add your details to this online form. We will then be in touch when we have events coming up and are looking for help. This is on an ad-hoc basis, so do not worry if you cannot help at a certain event. You can also take your name off the list at any time.

This group will meet on Wednesdays, happening at the same time as the coffee morning at YYS. Once a half term, the coffee morning will not take place so that the Fundraising and events committee can take place instead.
