Year 1 trip - Museum of Childhood

Friday 10 January 2020

On Wednesday 8th January 2020 Year 1 travelled by two tubes to the The Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green. This trip was in line with our English story this half term ‘The Flying Runaway Horse’ by Paul-Jacques Bonzon. The children attended a workshop where they got to play with toys from the past including spinning tops, a diablo and a cup and ball (some were quick tricky to play with). Then we got to ride on a rocking horse and even dressed up to become fire officers and chefs! We learnt that lots of toys in the past were made out of wood or metal whereas now most of our toys are made from plastic. This will be helpful when we start learning about different materials in science this half term. We are looking forward to sharing our own toys in class later on in the half term and comparing them to what we found in the museum.
