KSA's class of 2018 were celebrating a fantastic set of results this year, with 65% of A level grades at B grade or above. The A-level and Business BTEC results ensured that 75% of the cohort are on track to attend a top third university. The percentage of grades at A and A* also increased significantly, meaning that 10 students gained access to top 10 universities.
Amongst the sucess stories was Rashma, who has gained a place at Pembroke College, Oxford to study History (pictured above). Rashma has been Head Girl of KSA, and is the first student from the school to study at Oxford. Rashma achieved A grades in each of Politics, History and Economics.
Other students celebrating success were brother and sister Hani and Susan who were celebrating gaining places at Imperial College and UCL. Hani gained A*, A, A in Economics, Geography and Maths, and Susan achieved A, B, B in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. Susan made the brave decision to restart Year 12 two years ago, her commitment to going to a top university paid off.
Another sucess story was Thear Saada, Head Boy, who achieved A*, A*, A in Maths, Chemistry and Physics, and has gained a place to study Mechanical Engineering at Durham University. He has been awarded a Reuben Scholarship bursary to support him in his studies.
“I’m speechless, I didn’t expect to get these results. I’ve put in the work and I’m very proud. I’ve been revising so much – staying at school after the teachers have left every day. It was my teachers who helped me to choose Durham. They opened my mind and told me to relish this new experience. Maybe I’m a role model for education in my family now. You come to King Solomon Academy and you’re going to get good grades – that’s a given. The thing that sets the school apart is it gives you character.”
The number of students gaining places at the very highest ranked universities has doubled.
The school is also celebrating the successful achievement of three students who have gained places on highly competitive degree level apprenticeships at leading employers, including Accenture and Bank of England.
Max Haimendorf, Principal, said: "We are so grateful for and inspired by the immense effort and commitment that these pupils and their families have made to their studies at King Solomon Academy. For many of our pupils, they have been with us for the last 7 years, working hard and being and important part of a special community. We are very happy for them as they prepare for success in the next stage of their life."
King Solomon Academy is open to Sixth From applications for September study of A-levels and Business BTEC. Applicants can visit in person at 11am on Thursday 23rd August to register to attend KSA Sixth Form.
