King Solomon Academy Celebrates Excellent GCSE Results

On 20 August 2015, the second cohort of King Solomon Academy celebrated their GCSE results. The bar had been set high by the achievements of the first cohort in 2014.

93% of the year group achieved 5 A*-C grades including English and Mathematics. This matched last year’s headline figure. Even more pleasingly though was the increase in the proportion of GCSE results at grade B or above. 72% of the cohort achieved 5 A*-B grades including English and Maths, meaning that the majority of pupils are well prepared for success in academics beyond 16 years old.

At King Solomon Academy, pupils study academically challenging courses and this was reflected in their success in the EBacc measure, with 75% of pupils achieving this.

Across subjects, there were some exceptionally high grades. In English Literature, 98% achieved C or above; 93% B or above; 66% A or above. In Maths, 93% achieved C or above; 81% achieved B or above; 55% A or above.

The arrival of the results was highlighted on BBC London Radio, where two exceptional pupils, Nadia and Jamil, opened their results with Max Haimendorf, the headteacher. Click here to listen to the radio programme.

The star of the results was Nadia Zaman, who achieved the school’s first clean sweep of straight A*s. Nadia is one of four Zaman children attending King Solomon Academy. Though neither of her parents completed formal education past 16, Nadia is committed to going to university. “Because of this school, I’ve become more career focused and more hardworking. I understand the opportunities that are available to me. I am extremely pleased with my results”

Max Haimendorf, Secondary Headteacher at KSA is proud of the results achieved. “Our pupils, parents and teachers give 100% every day to build a community where academic success is expected of all our pupils. With support from our exceptional governors and the help of the Ark network, we have created a community where great things happen for our pupils”.
