Careers Week 2020

Friday 07 February 2020

This week, pupils from across the academy have been learning about the world of work.

On Monday 3rd February, Middle School had a Careers Drop Down Day. As well as having Careers lessons, each class heard from 4 different employers over the course of the day.

On Monday, we also had 4 of our sixth formers visited Year 5 and 6 assembly to speak to them about their future study and career plans. The sixth formers have a diverse range of career plans from working in the film industry to working as a site manager on a construction site.

On Monday 3rd, Year 5 had a visit from Mars Wrigley where they learnt about the different products the company makes and the different jobs that exist. Mar Wrigley have an office based in Paddington Central and we look forward to continuing working with them in the future.

On Wednesday 5th, we had 120 volunteers visit us across the day.

In Upper School, all pupils took part in a speed networking event where they were able to speak to employers in pairs to find out more about their jobs. We were especially excited to welcome back one of our alumni, Malachi Boyce who is a Marketing Apprentice at Sky. The pupils did an excellent job at making a great impression and leaning about jobs they didn’t know existed.

Year 3 had an assembly with Johanna Pemberton who works in PR. Year 3 did a great job at listening to Johanna’s presentation and asking her lots of questions.

In the afternoon, we had our Careers Fair on OYS, with 25 employers represented at the event. Students from Sixth Form along with parents and pupils from across the academy enjoyed meeting the different employers and learning about internship, apprenticeship and graduate opportunities.

KSA is very fortunate to work with a large number of companies, individuals and parents who have given up their time this week to attend our Careers events and we are hugely grateful for their support.
