Senior leadership team

Mr M Haimendorf - Secondary School Headteacher                          


Mr. Haimendorf graduated from Oxford and joined the first cohort of the Teach First programme. He has been a Science teacher and then Head of Year 8. Following work at Teach First central office he joined the consultants Oliver Wyman where he worked in finance strategy. Whilst there he continued to contribute to the education field, writing about the importance of small schools in Teach First’s well received policy paper, Lessons from the Front. In 2008 he was appointed as secondary headteacher of King Solomon Academy. When appointed to KSA, he was the youngest Secondary headteacher in the country. He has now led KSA through two outstanding inspections.

Ms E Humphreys - Deputy Head - Head of CPD/T&L, Head of English                             


Ms Humphreys graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MA in English Literature and French and has more recently completed a second Masters’ degree in Educational Leadership at The Institute of Education, part of the University of London. She is Deputy Headteacher at KSA, leading on teaching and learning and professional development. She is a passionate teacher of English and loves nothing better than seeing young people reading, writing and talking about brilliant texts.

Mr G Rimmer - Deputy Head – Head of Inclusion                        


Mr Rimmer taught English for two years at a secondary school in south Birmingham. Prior to joining KSA, he worked for Teach First, developing the Teaching and Learning strand of Teach On. Mr Rimmer graduated from the University of Warwick with a degree in Film and Literature. At KSA Mr Rimmer has been a form teacher, a head of year, and SENCO.

Ms D Fountain - Assistant Headteacher, Assessment and Head of Science                         


Ms Fountain graduated from Oxford University in Biological Sciences and went on to teach in Honduras. She has since been a Sustainability Strategy Consultant in the City, supporting businesses in becoming more environmentally and socially responsible, and more recently worked as a Science Teacher in a comprehensive school as part of the Teach First Programme. She joined KSA in 2011 and was made head of Science in 2014.

Mr T Mvula - Assistant Headteacher, Pastoral and Extended Learning Coordinator                         


Mr Mvula has just completed his PGCE in Music Education at London Metropolitan and previously studied at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, where he attained his bachelor honors degree in Performing Arts Music. Mr Mvula has also worked as a self-employed musician and vocal workshop leader for several years and has travelled the globe as a musician and a volunteer teacher.

Ms R Armitage - Assistant Headteacher, Teaching and Learning and Science teacher                         


Ms Armitage graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Biology.  Following this passion in Biology, she lived in South Africa working in the Kruger National Park for two years.  On returning she completed a PGCE, followed by a Masters in Science Education at the Institute of Education.  Prior to joining King Solomon Academy, Ms Armitage worked in a school in West London for six years teaching science and coached teachers to reflect on and develop their pedagogy.  Outside of school, Ms Armitage enjoys playing hockey each week and looks forward to camping every summer.

Mr S Dolan - Head of Maths                                                          


Mr Dolan graduated with a Masters in Mathematics from the University of Sheffield. He previously taught in Blackpool where he was responsible for Key Stage 3 maths and took part in the SSAT generation Y project. He joined KSA in 2011 and was appointed head of Maths in 2014.

Mr R Tindell - Head of Humanities                              


Mr Tindell has previously been Head of Faculty and Head of Business and Economics at schools in Hackney and Enfield, where he joined teaching through the TeachFirst programme. In between his teaching posts, Mr Tindell spent two years as an international development consultant in the field of education, firstly based in Kampala, Uganda working for a charity building low fee secondary schools and then working for national and international agencies on projects in Nigeria, Uganda and Kosovo. Mr Tindell studied PPE at Oxford and holds an MA in Economics and International Development from the IOE.

Mr S ParrattHead of Music                        


Mr Parratt graduated with a degree in Music Performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2008. As a professional violinist and violist he has toured and performed internationally, and recorded with many different orchestras and artists. Having also maintained a strong foothold in musical education and outreach upon graduation, Mr Parratt has delivered workshops and performance programmes across the UK and Ireland. Mr Parratt joined King Solomon Academy in January 2011.

Ms Crompton graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Modern and Medieval Languages. As part of her degree, she spent a year teaching English to children and adults in Spain and a summer volunteering in Nicaragua. More recently, she has been working as a Languages Teacher as part of the Teach First programme.

Ms E Harvey - Head of Year 7 and Science teacher                            


Before attending University, Ms Harvey volunteered for a charity in Brazil where she worked with local communities on construction projects. She then studied Architecture at Nottingham University. In her final year, Ms Harvey travelled to South Africa where she was part of a team working on a live social architecture project to design and construct a nursery for 80 children. Since graduating, she has been teaching science in the East Midlands as part of the Teach First Programme. Ms Harvey is passionate about seeing her pupils fulfil their potential in every area of their lives.

David Barton - Head of Year 8 and Maths teacher                            


Mr Barton graduated from Cambridge University with a masters in Mechanical Engineering. He joined Teach First in 2013 and spent two years teaching Maths and Physics at a school in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. He joined KSA in 2015 as part of the Maths team and Head of Year 8. Outside of school he is a keen rower and cyclist, and is slowly learning to play the guitar.

Mr Prebensen graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a first class degree in economics. Before and alongside his studies, he aided in the development of Lerata Primary School in rural Kenya, returning on multiple occasions to teach and support planning for further improvements to the school and expanding these to community projects.

Ms England graduated from Imperial College with a BSc in Physics, and went on to complete her teacher training at Oxford University. She has since been teaching science in Oxfordshire before joining the KSA community in September 2012. In her spare time she enjoys taking part in yoga classes, sailing and travelling, she also regularly visits Anfield to watch Liverpool play! She was appointed to Head of Year in 2012.

Ms R Llewellyn - Deputy Head of Sixth Form, Lead Teacher of PE abd Business teacher                            


Ms Llewellyn graduated from London South Bank University with a first in her Accounting and Law degree where she also went on to complete her teacher training. She has always been involved in coaching a variety of sports including Netball and Gymnastics and joining KSA in 2012. She is a very keen fitness and sports enthusiast and hopes to have an exciting journey here at KSA. She was appointed Lead teacher of PE in 2014.

Ms E Idowu - Special Education Needs and Disabilities Coordinator                       


Ms Idowu graduated from Goldsmiths College, University of London a Bsc (Hons) in Psychology. Prior to joining KSA, Ms Idowu has volunteered for Springboard for Children charity, teaching literacy and mentoring pupils in a primary school and volunteered to take part in a scheme designed to help raise the attainment and aspirations of young people in a sixth form college.

Ms L Baish - Music teacher                            


Ms Baish studied Music at King’s College London; playing the cello took her on tour to Italy and San Francisco, amongst other places, with the National Youth Strings Academy. Having tutored privately for local families as a student, before joining KSA she worked for the University of York on their Success For All literacy programme.

Mr K Boulton - Deputy Head of Maths                            


Mr Boulton graduated with a Master’s in physics from Warwick university. He previously worked in business consulting and was involved in founding the social enterprise Team Up, before joining the Teach First programme, and then KSA in 2013. He has a strong interest in teacher training, and is currently looking at how applying cognitive psychology to the classroom might empower every child to learn mathematics successfully.

Ms F Easton - Deputy Head of MFL                            


Ms Easton graduated from Oxford university with a degree on French and Italian, She is passionate linguist and has lived and taught on France and Italy before starting at KSA as a Tutor Fellow in 2012.
Having studied the piano and oboe at school, Ms Easton is keen musician and also loves to attend theatre productions in her spare time. She is also an avid traveller and aims to visit France and Italy at least once a year.

Ms N Fifield - Lead teacher of Psychology and English teacher                            


Ms Fifield is an English teacher at KSA. She graduated with a degree in English from the University of Birmingham and then taught English in a school in Gijon, Spain before returning to Birmingham to do a Postgrad Diploma in Psychology. Whilst studying she worked for BrighterLifeCare caring for children with disabilities. In her spare time she enjoys reading fiction books, dancing and watching films.

Mr J Johnson - PE teacher                            


Mr Johnson graduated from London South Bank University, with a BA honours degree in Sport and Exercise Science, with the main focus being Biomechanics and Physiology. As well as serving as a sports coach and currently playing in a semi-pro Division 1 basketball league, Mr Johnson has always wanted to take his coaching skills to the next level and this has lead him towards teaching. KSA is the first school Mr Johnson has officially taught in, despite having role’s in other schools. Having an in depth knowledge of basketball has allowed Mr Johnson to train and build up a strong KSA basketball team which will be a force to reckon with in the near future.

Ms C Kordel - Lead Teacher of History                            


Ms Kordel graduated from Warwick University in 2005, having spent a year at the University of California, Berkeley. Following graduation, she trained as a Tax Accountant before joining Teach First. She taught history and became Teaching and Learning lead for English at Westminster Academy before joining KSA in September 2013 to teach English and history. She was made Lead teacher of History in 2014.

Mr A Lomas - History teacher                            


Mr Lomas has been at KSA since June 2012. Before joining the school, he studied History at Cambridge University, then worked in the university for a year as a School’s Liaison Officer. As well as being an enthusiastic historian, Mr Lomas is a keen athlete. At KSA he teaches History at KS3 and GCSE, as well as offering a helping hand around the PE department where possible.

Ms H Moore - Deputy Head of English                            


After graduating from the University of Durham with a BA in Modern Languages and Cultures, Ms Moore went on to write a Research Masters in medieval literature. She worked as an English Teacher in a German secondary school and spent time studying in Spain before joining the KSA community in July 2012. She currently works as an English Teacher and Form Tutor in Year 8.

Ms R Mulvena - English teacher                            


Ms Mulvena graduated from Nottingham University in French and Contemporary Chinese Studies; as part of her degree she spent her third year studying at university in France and then China. After graduation she spent a year teaching English as a Foreign Language in Taiwan. She joined KSA on completion of her Masters in Chinese Studies from the London School of Oriental and African Studies.

Ms L Povey - Deputy Head of Maths                            


Ms Povey graduated from King's College London with a first class degree in mathematics, alongside her studies she tutored maths and geography. After finishing her degree, Ms Povey spent some time travelling in New Zealand and Australia before joining the mathematics department at KSA. In her spare time Ms Povey enjoys reading, painting and going to the theatre.

Mr W Sanderson - Science teacher                            


Siince completing his degree in Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Bristol, Mr. Sanderson has worked as a research scientist in the biotechnology industry and at University College London. He has tutored outstanding pupils at several non-selective state schools in London through his involvement with The Brilliant Club, an educational charity that aims to widen access to top universities. In his spare time, he enjoys solving cryptic crosswords and change ringing.

Ms H Scott - Science teacher                            


Ms Scott studied Neuroscience with German at Manchester University and spent a  year carrying out research in a lab in Cologne. Alongside her studies she tutored science and maths and volunteered helping refugees with spoken English. She also volunteers for CISV, a peace education organisation coordinating training and events and is a mentor for the Klevis Kola Foundation.

Ms G Woolf - Instructional Coach and English/French teacher                            


Ms Woolf graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Music. During her summers at university, Ms Woolf gained experience in Classical Music PR at the Barbican and during third year was president of the Music Society. Ms Woolf taught for two years at a school in Birmingham on the Teach First programme, before moving to London Academy for a further year.

Mr G GhaffariHistory Teacher                           


Mr Ghaffari graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2014 with a Joint Honours degree in History and American & Canadian Studies. During this time, he spent a year studying at the University of Ottawa in Canada. Mr. Ghaffari is a keen sportsman, with football being his greatest passion. He has played and coached the sport at a high level in both England and Canada. He is a fully qualified FA coach and hopes his experience can guide pupils at KSA to become top student athletes.

Ms L Hammonds - Music teacher                           


Ms Hammonds graduated with a degree in Music Performance from the Royal Academy of Music. Before working at KSA, Ms Hammonds toured as a cellist with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and performed with many different orchestras and artists around London and the UK. Highlights include Glastonbury Festival, the BBC Proms, the 2012 Olympics and the Royal Opera House. Ms Hammonds joined King Solomon Academy in September 2014.

Ms H Hayes - Music teacher                           


Ms Hayes graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London with a degree in Music. Prior to studying, she toured with the orchestra to France, Italy, Holland and Hungary. Alongside her degree, Ms Hayes taught the violin to young musicians from local schools and worked in the community supporting the elderly. On completion, she worked with adults with ASD at a centre that specialised in arts before taking a course in Music Therapy. She is excited to bring her passion for Music to King Solomon Academy.

Ms J Kennedy - English Teacher                           


Before joining KSA via Teach First, Ms Kennedy read English at The University of Exeter, worked as a journalist, and as an executive researcher for consumer businesses. She has a passion for youth international development and has worked for NGO’s in the USA, East and West Africa, and in India. Ms Kennedy is also a qualified drama teacher and is excited to be involved with KSA’s theatre programme.

Mr Landes graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Management Studies. He joined the Teach First programme and taught for two years in Croydon where he coordinated the Business department. He is currently studying for a Masters in Educational Leadership. He has a keen interest in music and travelling.

Ms A Williams - English Teacher                           


Miss Williams graduated from Oxford University with a degree in History and English. She then joined the Teach First programme and became an English teacher in a school in Nottinghamshire. For the past 2 years she has been the Able and Talented Co-ordinator, helping students to achieve their full potential. She enjoys travelling and has trekked through the Himalayas, crossed Russia on the Trans-Siberian Railway and worked for a sports and education charity for young girls in Mumbai. In her spare time, Miss Williams is a keen reader and likes to visit the theatre.

Mr Chart graduated from Warwick University where he completed a degree in mathematics with study in France. Before joining King Solomon Academy, he taught maths in schools in central Birmingham and Bristol. Aside from maths, he enjoys languages and music; playing the violin and the piano.

Ms J Petrie - English Teacher                           


Miss Petrie graduated from The University of Birmingham in 2013 with a degree in English Literature and Language before beginning the Teach First programme in the West Midlands as part of the 2013 cohort. She has taught English for two years in a school in Walsall, North West Birmingham and moved to KSA in September 2015. Whilst teaching, Miss Petrie has been studying for a Masters in Educational Leadership with The University of Warwick.

Ms H Woodham - Lead Teacher of RS                   


Ms Woodham graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a First Class MA degree in Divinity and is currently studying for a second Master’s in Educational Leadership at the Institute of Education. Prior to joining KSA, she taught Religious Studies to all year groups at a secondary school in West London as part of the Teach First programme. Ms Woodham is excited about leading Religious Studies at KSA and teaching Humanities in year 8.  She loves seeing young people broaden their horizons and realise their potential.

Ms C Al-Hariri - Exams, University and Work-related Learning Officer                            


Ms Al-Hariri graduated from Cambridge University with a First in Natural Sciences (Zoology). Whilst at university, she enjoyed a range of activities including Drama and Football, whilst also working as a teaching assistant at a local school, taking part in Open Days and Aim Higher initiatives within the university and running the extra-curricular activities for an international summer school. This has led to her joining the King Solomon Academy to begin her career in education.

Mr I Bowkett - Science Technician                            


Mr Bowkett studied at Keele University, graduating with a degree in Physics and Music Technology in 2009. After a living in the USA and Canada for a couple of years, he worked as a science technician in an inner-city Coventry comprehensive school, before moving to London and joining King Solomon Academy in 2013. In his spare time Mr Bowkett enjoys rock climbing, performance poetry and inventing musical instruments.

Ms I Colmans - Attendance and Safeguarding Officer                   

Ms Colmans graduated from Southampton Solent University in 2006 with a degree in Media with Cultural Studies.  She has spent some time travelling since her graduation where she lived and worked in New Zealand. Ms Colmans previously worked as an administrator in higher education at Middlesex University.  And between 2008-2011 she worked for the Metropolitan Police as a Communications Officer.

Mr A Romain - PA to Secondary Headteacher                            


Mr Romain's previous school experience includes working with students on a pastoral level, offering UCAS and careers guidance and providing administrative support to a busy Sixth Form team. He is looking forward to joining the King Solomon family and helping the students realise their potential, and making a difference in this exciting school. He has previously studied Drama, English and Sociology at Richmond College and in his spare time, Mr Romain is a keen theatre goer and enjoys reading plays and cooking.

Ms O Uwegba - Pastoral and Behaviour Administrator 


Miss Uwegba graduated from Anglia Ruskin University with a BSc honours degree in Psychology.  Prior to joining KSA in 2015, she spent a year volunteering in a primary school as a mentor and teaching assistant encouraging young children to reach higher levels in their education. In other roles, she created and led various extra-curricular activities and leadership programmes for students both in primary and secondary school. She also led residential trips to encourage self-esteem and self – awareness. Outside of school, she enjoys attending church, music concerts and reading novels.                



Mr E McDonagh - The Access Project         


Mr McDonagh graduated from the University of Leeds with a degree in History before taking an MA in Public Policy at King's College. He went on to work at the Department for Education where he developed a strong desire to work nearer the ‘frontline’ of the education system. He could not miss the opportunity The Access Project offered to work closely with students and help them realise their ambitions. Mr McDonagh will be based at KSA four days a week and islooking forward to becoming part of the school community. He is also an avid Arsenal fan and spends his Saturdays from September – May running haplessly around boggy London football pitches.

Tutor Fellows

Ms S Page - Tutor Fellow                    


Ms Page graduated from UCL with a degree in Law. She decided not to pursue a career in that field and, instead, followed her passion for working with children. She joined a secondary school in Bournemouth teaching English and coached a variety of sports including hockey, netball and tennis. She also assisted with Ten Tors, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions as well as running cookery lessons. Immediately prior to KSA, Ms Page also managed a tuition centre which focused on Maths and English support. In this role, she enjoyed ensuring that every child was being challenged to reach their potential. Ms Page is thoroughly looking forward to working with the children at KSA as well as assisting them with their extra-curricular activities.

Ms S Bryar - Tutor Fellow          


Ms Bryar graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2015 with a First Class MSci in Natural Sciences, specialising in Materials Science. While at Cambridge she helped run residential courses and university visits for secondary school students from less well represented backgrounds, encouraging them to learn more about university and then apply. Ms Bryar has been tutoring since she was thirteen and is very excited to continue teaching here at KSA. Beyond school she enjoys attending comedy shows, gigs and live sport.

Ms C Baker - Tutor Fellow    



Ms. Baker studied Art History at Boston College before going on to receive her MA in Art History & Museum Studies from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Before moving to London and joining KSA in 2016, she worked in fundraising, events, and community relations for the San Francisco Symphony. Outside of school she enjoys reading, rock climbing, and running. She is excited to join the team at KSA, and looks forward to sharing her passion for history and art with the students here.

Ms L Bone - Tutor Fellow          


Miss Bone graduated from UCL in 2015 with a First Class Degree in Genetics. She enjoys sharing her passion for science with students, and has taught at the Marine Biological Association and in China. At university Miss Bone was an active member of the Sign Language Society, gaining a Level One Qualification. As well as this Miss Bone loves surfing, and used to compete and teach the sport when she lived in Devon.  Miss Bone is looking forward to learning about life at KSA and getting involved in teaching science.

Ms A Boyd - Tutor Fellow                        


Alison graduated from Durham University with a First Class Degree in English Studies. Before joining KSA, Alison worked in the private sector for several years and is very happy to be returning to the world of education. As well as being a voracious reader, Alison enjoys creative writing, attending the theatre, and is a keen clarinetist. She is very much looking forward to getting involved in the creative extra-curricular life at KSA.

Mr Anand-Shaw graduated from Lancaster University with a first class History degree in 2012. After this he spent three years as a Recruitment Consultant in the financial services and insurance markets. At KSA he is keen to share his passion for reading and sport and to help all students attain excellence in their academic and extracurricular pursuits.

Ms H Barkhan - Tutor Fellow                        


Ms Barkhan graduated from the University of Exeter in 2013 with a first class degree in History with Proficiency in French. After graduating, she lived and worked in France for 5 months before moving back to London and becoming Marketing Manager of a dynamic online start-up company. Ms Barkhan leads a very active lifestyle with a love of sports and fitness, and she enjoys travelling.

Mr M Lam - Tutor Fellow             


Mr Lam studied English at Queen Mary, University of London before taking his Master’s at the University of Oxford. He has worked in a number of customer service roles, and volunteered writing communications for the disabled people’s charity Real, and the Small Charities Coalition. He is delighted to be a part of the KSA team, and looks forward to being able to help pupils to achieve their personal and academic potential.
