Y8 Jamie's Farm

This year, 57 intrepid explorers from the class of 2024 made their way to the West Country to enjoy a week of farm life at Jamie’s Farm.

Our first two days were spent at the Bristol Science Museum (a must-visit if you are in the city) and at Bath University’s incredible sports complex. We learnt about life as an undergraduate at two of the UK’s leading universities.

At the farm, the students were then set to work on a wide variety of jobs: Horse mucking, sheep mucking, cow mucking, sheep mucking, pig mucking and chicken mucking. There was also some gardening, arts and crafts, axe chopping, woodwork, cooking, as well as plenty of downtime enjoying the beautiful Bath countryside, but those aren’t as funny to watch.

There were so many great moments: Shahin managed to start a stampede, which was only stopped with a Jason Statham-esque skid to ward off the cows by young Jamie in the rover; the girls treated us to a rendition of “Love Yourself” by the Biebs at 7:30 on Wednesday morning; Mani absolutely dominated axe chopping (see the video!).

Overall it was a wonderful week, and we can’t thank the staff at Jamie’s Farm, Bath Uni, and Bristol enough for having us for a visit. We’ll see you next year!
